About
Nous School is a four-year degree in Psychotherapy, cognitive-constructivist perspective (approved by Ministerial Decree of 22.10.2008 of the Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological Research-MIUR published in Official Gazette No 246 of 11.11.2008 ) to enable the conduct of psychotherapy (pursuant to art. 3 of Act 56 of 18.02.1989.).

Nous is committed to offering its students a scientific, professional and personal cognitive psychotherapy focused on four priorities.

  1. Learning a theoretical knowledge of methods and therapeutic techniques cognitivist clinically and scientifically based and at the same time develop skills in critical thinking and rigorous analysis.
  2. Expanding the therapist's personal awareness : the adventure of endless discovery of themselves, their resources and entire range of human potential.
  3. Form a solid clinical capacity and profile of professional competence rich to spend on several fronts, which can give credibility, visibility and effectively address the labor market.
  4. Establishing a supportive network of colleagues and friends who remain in the time as human heritage and professional.

The scientific knowledge and research are in fact essential for a value Nous: why the curriculum is expected systematic study with the study of techniques and methodologies Clinical cognitivist and constructivist arising therefrom. However, in view of the school, scientific knowledge is a condition necessary but not enough for a good psychotherapy practice.

Especially Nous considers essential - to form a therapist who is effective in practice therapeutic concrete - promote the growth of self-reflective capacity in the present moment about their cognitive functioning, emotional and behavioral ( meta-cognition). This is to develop a more intense and continuous self-awareness of the therapist, which proved to be essential to make a difference "during the actual therapeutic experience.

Along with the primary purpose of training - expressed throughout the material science teaching and professional program described in study (see below) - the School also has another purpose.
to bring each student to understand the direct, deep and first-person as a direct inner experience, intuition, imagination and the non-conceptual awareness - in other cultural traditions is called eg. sati (mindfulness) and classical Western philosophical tradition ηους ( nous ) - are a form of knowledge equally crucial that valid and objective knowledge, scientific, based on empirical evidence.
Two forms of knowledge more effective it is more interdependent and complementary.

training methods: the full personal development of the therapist

To achieve these priorities, the school, in addition to a rigorous scientific and professional training in cognitive therapy, clinical psychology, psychopathology, etc. ., intends to work as a priority to personal growth The therapist, in all sizes (full).

To this end, the students experience in-depth and continuous use of methods of increasing self-knowledge derived : a) from the perspective of cognitive-constructivist , b) by perspective of mindfulness and c) from the disciplines that study the size of non-verbal expression through methods experiential exploration of bodily and emotional dimensions .

Students will then be required, since the beginning of the third year, a path of psychotherapy teaching (training analysis) of at least 30 hours.

The methodology of teaching and training classes and lessons uses methods and techniques emphasize experiential live activation .
In particular, enhanced the richness of the learning and emotional size of their group, which requires (and strengthens) the willingness of students to get involved.

The methods proposed include:

  • practical work experience (application techniques) to itself, to stimulate self-observation and identification of personal emotional patterns
  • analysis and study of group dynamics,
  • role playing and simulations,
  • group work and discussion groups,
  • lectures and seminars,
  • case presentations,
